Cedar Fencing

Welco Lumber Company USA is North America’s leading primary manufacturer of Western Red Cedar fence pickets. We buy cedar logs, manufacture them into fence pickets, and sell them throughout the United States in partnership with many leading retailers, wholesalers and stocking distributors.

Welco manufactures Western Red Cedar fence pickets out of two separate mills in the Pacific Northwest located in Shelton, WA and Naples, ID.  Both of our mills produce a slightly different looking picket due to the slightly different size and sub-type of Western Red Cedar log found in each mill’s specific sub-region.

Each mill produces a variety of grades between (and including) #1 2-Face and #3 No Hole.  These fence picket grades come in lengths of 4′, 5′, 6′, 7′, & 8′ and widths of 3.5″, 4″, 5.5″ & 6″.

We also produce low grade or utility grade lumber in fencing dimensions, as well as “cedar strips”, which are commonly used in the roofing tile industry as tile battens.

Characteristics of the Micronized Copper Preservative

Consumers have fallen in love with the lighter, more natural appearance of micronized copper treated products as well as their improved painting and staining capabilities. But YellaWood® brand products also boast improved corrosion characteristics and are approved for contact with aluminum. In addition, they are long-lasting, durable, clean to the touch, have no objectionable odor, and provide protection from rot, fungal decay and termite attack. Outdoor exposure testing shows that products treated with micronized copper preservatives offer superior product benefits compared to other copper-based wood preservatives.

YellaWood® brand products are available in Southern Yellow Pine and South American Pine species and are available treated for Above Ground, Above Ground General Use, Ground Contact and Fresh Water Immersion applications. The preservatives used in the MicroPro® process are registered by the EPA as a non-restricted use pesticide and do not require Proposition 65 labeling in California. Products treated with micronized copper preservatives, such as YellaWood® brand products, as described in ESR-1980 and ESR-2240 are building code compliant.
